From where I’m standing, I could vaguely make out a tree while underneath something red was shining which could be the stop sign of the traffic lights on the intersection. Because of the mist, I could see about 70 metres. That was not holding us back from going on our early morning walk. Even after the 24 Hr on the plane you have to exercise the muscles.
10 Minutes on the path and the mist slowly thins out. The sunlight is getting stronger and it’s time to make some pictures of the beautiful landscape that is unfolding in front of us. In the paddocks cows and horses don’t seem to be too interested in the new day and concentrate on keeping the grass to a manageable length
Cows in the Mist
Good Morning
A windvane on top of a farm building awaits for the wind to give him some direction. 6.30hr and it promises to become a fantastic day. The forecast is 27 degrees Celsius, no showers expected, the sky is deep blue and you are in Holland. What to do? Well, get a bicycle and tour around the many bike paths this country is offering. In oma’s shed the bikes were waiting and after I checked the tyres and adjusted the saddle height, we headed towards Boekelo. I Googled a bike-route the night before and wrote down all the roads we had to follow since there was no printer available. Heading off in the right direction but, no printer no map either so, after about two hours following the instructions and coming across street names that were not on the list, we decided that we follow our instinct. In other words, we were lost.
On the bike
Not a problem. After 10 minutes a road sign showed us the way to a watermill, which was on the list, so we were back on track (more or less).
From a distance we already could hear the water tumbling, and shortly we reached the watermill.

On the other site of the road a small cafe could be visited and the terrace was well occupied. We stopped and had a drink across the road with a nice view on the mill. A placard on a wall of the watermill read that it was build in the year 1548 and was one of a very rare dubble mill, an oil mill on one side and a grain mill on trhe other. Another lesson in history.
